Mahler: Suite for Orchestra, Harpsichord, and Organ after J.S. Bach Mahler: Symphony No. 1 Our third cycle of the complete Mahler symphonies begins with the composer's most popular work, augmented at the end by as many horn players standing up as we can find! At the end of his life, Mahler expressed amazement that his style was seemingly fully formed at so early an age. It ranks, along with Berlioz's Fantastic Symphony, as the most original first symphony ever written. Mahler liked to “retouch” the works of Beethoven, Schumann and many other composers. Here, he has assembled and arranged four of Bach's most popular works which will open the concert.
