The Global Energy Network Institute is hosting a global solutions event on sustainability August 14-17 with the City of Palo Alto Sustainability Department. Based on the design thinking of Buckminster Fuller, this demonstration of the Silicon Valley SIMCenter is designed to tackle the many interconnected challenges we face and offer an alternative, comprehensive way of looking at these issues. In an immersive visualization facility that fosters global understanding and collaborative problem solving, we will focus on energy, water and transportation issues. Each day will be independent: moving from a global focus, to regional, local and then the UN Sustainable Development Goals on the last day. Participants will be able to literally “see” past trends, future projections, and compare choices for the future. The aim: to visualize sustainable solutions to global and local problems in a new way so we can make informed choices quicker . . . because we are running out of time.
